A
collaboration that came way out of left-field yet has left fans clamouring for their full length release, Iggy Pop, Josh Homme and Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys fame instantaneously grabbed our attention after revealing they’d been working  in a cloak and dagger fashion.

Recorded between Homme’s two studios; the breeding ground for many of the 21st century’s most enthralling albums, the band have provided us with the first taste of this new endeavour in the form of the gripping ‘Gardenia’.

Setting out with the kind of warped guitar interlude that was prevalent on the work of Pop’s late compatriot David Bowie on albums such as ‘Low’,  ‘Gardenia’ sees Pop abandon the ramshackle delivery of the past to play the role of rock ‘n’ roll elder statesman with undeniable style. With an incredibly accomplished band (which also features the previously unmentioned Dean Fertita) and the charisma filled vocals of Homme bolstering Pop’s world-weary drawl on the chorus, it’s certainly left us wondering how just much fantastic music this new venture shall yield.

Post Pop Depression will be released in March via Loma Vista.
